Obituary

Stanley R. "Patsy" Redmond Jr., 85, of 804 Dill Hill Road, Johnsonburg, and 174 Soneto Court, SE, Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Tuesday (June 12, 2012) at UPMC Hamot in Erie following a brief illness.

Born March 23, 1927, in Falconer, N.Y., he was the son of Stanley R. and Mildread Tarnoski Redmond. He married Leah R. Dornish on Sept. 23, 1950, in Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys.

He resided in Johnsonburg since he was 1 1/2 years old and spent 7 months of the year in Florida since 1988.
He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1946.

Stanley was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, the Johnsonburg Elks, Johnsonburg Senior Center and American Legion Post in Port St. Lucie. He was an avid bowler and loved to make bird houses.

During World War II, he served overseas in the U.S. Army as a corporal with the 30th Bomb Squadron, 19th Bomb Group in the Pacific Theatre.

Before retiring in 1988, Stanley co-owned and operated Redmond Brothers Redi-Mix for 40 years. He also worked for the New York and Pennsylvania Company Paper Mill for 23 1/2 years.

In addition to his wife Leah at home, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Stephen C. Redmond and his wife Sandra of McKees Rocks, Vincent J. Redmond and his wife Tracey of Rock Hill, S.C., and Diane, Mrs. Dennis Kaveney of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Adam, Steven and Jessica Redmond, Kristy Wisman, Trista Sallack and Christopher Kaveney, 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Redmond and his wife Marion of Mentnor, Ohio.

He was predeceased in death by his parents; brothers, Edward Redmond and Robert Redmond; sister, Rita Myers; and great-granddaughter, Cameron Rae Wisman in infancy.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
