Shirley M. Hanes, 60, of 407 Spruce St., Johnsonburg, died Thursday morning, Aug. 31, 2017 at her residence following a short illness.
She was born May 6, 1957 in Butler, daughter of the late Arnold Bowser Sr. and Marie G. Bowser, who survives.
She married Patrick R. Hanes on March 10, 1995 in Johnsonburg and he survives. She resided in Johnsonburg most of her life and graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1975.
She belonged to the Principe De Piedemont Club, Johnsonburg American Legion Post 501 and the Johnsonburg Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a diehard Chicago Bears fan. She was well known for her fudge, willingly filling many requests. She loved babysitting for others and had recently become a foster parent. She had a heart of gold and was always there willing to help whoever needed her.
She had worked for Helpmates for several years and Lusko Plating in Ridgway for several years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Marie G. Bowser of Ridgway; her son, Kevin Stahli of Johnsonburg; her stepchildren, Krystal, Mrs. Glenn Barbis of Johnstown, Darryl Hanes and his wife Lisa of St. Marys and Lori, Mrs. Alex Cruz of Junction City, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; her siblings, Donald Bowser and his wife Carol of Emporium, Robert Bowser Sr. and his wife Clara of St. Marys, Kathy Haberberger of Ridgway, Arnold Bowser Jr. and his wife Amy of St. Marys, John Bowser of Ridgway, David Bowser of Holly Springs, North Carolina and Steven Bowser and his wife Terry of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Stahli Jr.; one brother, Willis R. Jordan Jr.; and one sister, Nancy Bodien.
A funeral service for Shirley M. Hanes will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Johnsonburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Reigel, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5-8 p.m.
