Obituary

Rudolph R. "Rudy" Ferragine, 90, of 5584 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Road, Johnsonburg, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, June 4, 2021 at Jefferson Manor Health Care, Brookville following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 6, 1931 in Johnsonburg a son of Dominic and Mary Margia Ferragine. He married Margaret "Joan" Nitsche on October 9, 1954 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg and she survives.

Rudy was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg and was a 1950 graduate of Johnsonburg High School. He was a 1952 Graduate of Williamsport Tech where he studied Tool and Die making. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church where he had been an usher for many years and had been a member of Parish Council. He had been a board member of Johnsonburg Community TV. Rudy loved spending time with his wife and family, having his morning coffee time with his friends, hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and carpentry, going to the casino and watching the hummingbirds.

He was a Korean Era Army Vet serving as a Corporal with the AUGM 5 FA GP 8220 AU in Korea where he received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from CSM in Ridgway as a part owner of the business in 1998 after 46 years of employment, investment and joint ownership.

Besides his wife Joan at home, Rudy is survived by his daughters Linda Ferragine Franco of Ridgway, Leslie, Mrs. Nicholas Dattoli of Johnsonburg and Lisa, Mrs. Daniel Healy of Ridgway. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Corey Franco, Jessica Franco, Nicole, Mrs. Michael Miraglia, Nathan, Ryan and Alex Dattoli, Tyler Healy and his wife Taylor and Danielle Healy and a sister Rose Franco of Johnsonburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his beloved friend and companion, his dog Angel.

He is predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters; Angie Matzko and Helen DiJulio and 4 brothers; James, Arthur, John and Elmer Ferragine.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Rudy Ferragine to be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Wilson as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Visitation will be private.

Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Ridgway Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 9:45 AM.
