Rose M. Swanson, 92, of 649 Marvin St., Wilcox, died Thursday (Feb. 12, 2015) afternoon as the result of an automobile accident on U.S. Route 219 in Wilcox.

Born May 21, 1922, in Wilcox, she was a daughter of George B. and Vera Patterson Laughlin. On June 24, 1947, in Rasselas, she married Carl A. "Swen" Swanson; he died Oct. 29, 1998.

Mrs. Swanson resided in Wilcox all her life. She graduated from Wilcox High School.

She was a member of St. Ann's Church. She was one of the founders of the Wilcox Library, she was a member of the Wilcox American Legion and the Kane Country Club where she loved to golf. She also loved stock car racing and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Swanson was employed by Pete Nelson Grocery Store in Wilcox for 15 years.

Surviving are one son, Alvin "Chip" (Darlene) Swanson of Wilcox; three daughters, Sheila Singer of St. Marys, Sharon (Dennis) Payne of Wilcox and Shawna (Craig) Stanley of Wilcox; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellanne Olewinski of Rasselas; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a a great-grandson, Shane Fledderman; and died along with her sister, Vera E. Johnson.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date, at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wilcox Cemetery.
