Richard Joseph Peter Kowalski, 50, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

Beloved brother, uncle, and friend, he was born July 2, 1964.
A resident of Johnsonburg, and a 1983 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, he was an employee of Roy B. Constable's Stores. Richard was loved by many, and always brought a special spirit into any room. He lived life to the fullest every day. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and playing cards with friends.

Amongst his many activities he was also a member of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, the Holy Rosary Folk Group and the PFL. Richard has touched so many in his short life. He will be fondly remembered for his undying spirit, his strength and determination, and his love for family. To his 19 nieces and nephews, he was the fun uncle who was always willing to get into a little trouble. To his brothers and sisters, Richard was the stubborn one, picking fights but ending in hugs. Richard fought a valiant fight and now rests peacefully.

Richard is survived by siblings, Mark Kowalski and his wife Chris, Ginger Kowalski Schreiber and her husband Doug, John Kowalski and his wife Sandy, Teresa Kowalski Rottero and her husband Mark, Sherri Kowalski; a daughter, Brynn Kowalski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann Kowalski, and brother, James Kowalski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. Kowalski will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, Pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
