Obituary

Paul E. Silk Sr., 84, of 66 Oak St., Wilcox, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 28, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois in DuBois following a short illness.

He was born April 17, 1929 in Wilcox, son of the late John and Emma Benson Silk.
He resided in Wilcox all his life and attended Wilcox High School. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Wilcox. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and especially enjoyed socializing.

He was a Korean Era Army veteran serving as a Pfc with Detachment 12 1262nd ASU where he received the Japan Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
He was employed by Stackpole Carbon Co. of St. Marys for 25 years before retiring in 2005.

He had also worked for the Elk County Housing Authority in Johnsonburg for several years.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Johnson of St. Marys; the mother of his child, Phyllis Ford Silk; and two grandchildren, Amber and Jessica Silk of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Silk Jr., in 2006; brothers Franklin, John and Harry; and sisters Doris Popowski and Beatrice McGill.
A Funeral Service for Paul E. Silk Sr. will be conducted at Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery.

Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Friday morning at 10:30 a.m.
