Nicholas J. Marchese, 89, of Cranberry Twp, PA and formerly of Johnsonburg, died early Wednesday morning, August 31, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Johnsonburg on August 5, 1933 a son to the late Guiseppe and Maria Carnovale Marchese. He was married to the former Nancy Lee Skillsky and she survives.
Raised in Johnsonburg, Nicholas was active in at Holy Rosary Church. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School. Following High School he served as an Aerographer in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended Carnegie Mellon University majoring in Chemical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by ALCOSAN (Allegheny County Sanitary Authority) for many years retiring in the late 1990's.
Nicholas was very active in community affairs and was always willing to use his talents in the building trades to help family and friends with home improvement projects. He was a devoted father, a generous husband and loving step-father. He will be greatly missed.
Nicholas is survived by his wife Nancy at home, a son Joseph Marchese of Pittsburgh, grandchildren Anna and Christopher Marchese and step-children Natalie, Mrs. Kent Caldwell of Redondo Beach, CA, Darryl Roberts of Pittsburgh and Todd Roberts and his wife Jeannine of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by sisters Angie, Mrs. Eugene Jacobs of Santa Monica, CA and Geraldine, Mrs. Donald O'Leary of Pittsburgh and a brother Michael Marchese of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, Nicholas is predeceased by brothers Vito and Anthony Marchese and sisters Victoria Williams, Mary Marchese and Josephine Brashear.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Nicholas J. Marchese will be conducted at St. Anne's Church, Wilcox on Thursday September 8, 2022 at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. There will be no visitation.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Ridgway Servicemen's Detail. Detail Members are asked to assemble at Holy Rosary Cemetery on Thursday morning by 10:45.
