Michele "Michael" Costanzo, 91, of 314 First Ave., Johnsonburg, died Monday morning, Dec. 22, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born July 2, 1923 in Platina, Italy, son of the late Francisco and Maria Rosa Visconti Costanzo.
On Feb. 27, 1947, he married Emanuela Perri in Italy. She died Aug. 13, 2013.
He resided in Johnsonburg since 1950 and had graduated from high school in Italy.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church where he was very active and was an usher for many years. He was an avid gardener.
He served in the army in Italy.
He was employed by New York and Pennsylvania Co.-Penntech Papers of Johnsonburg for 26 years, retiring in 1984. He was also a retired Carabinieri (Italian policeman).
He is survived by two sons, Frank Costanzo and his wife Jane of Hummelstown, and Carl Costanzo of Johnsonburg; two daughters, Donna M. Costanzo of Ridgway, and Diana, Mrs. Joe Galati of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Lorinda and Gregg Costanzo, Thomas McClelland Jr., Timothy and Christina McClelland, and Gianina Galati; one great-granddaughter, Kenzie McClelland; one brother, Guiseppe of Italy; and three sisters, Angelina, Rosaria and Petrunila, all in Italy.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederico; and two sisters, Maria and Rosa.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Michele Costanzo will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St. Johnsonburg, Friday evening, Dec. 26 from 6-8 p.m.
