Mary Ann Smith, 83, of 177 Clarion Street, Wilcox, died early Tuesday evening, January 5, 2021 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 16, 1937 in Johnsonburg a daughter of the late Charles E. and Laura M. Olson Fitch. On June 2, 1960 in the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church she married Davd R. Smith. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1991.
Mary Ann had lived most of her life in Rasselas. She has lived in Wilcox since 2018. She had also lived in Sanborn, NY for 5 years and North Tonawanda, NY for 3 ½ years. She had attended the Rolfe School, was a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and was a regular Reader for Sunday Service. She was a member of the Elk County Republican Party. She loved to spend time with her family and to spend her time sewing and embroidering.
She had worked at Keystone Carbon Co. for 35 years before retiring in 2002 and had also worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. in Johnsonburg for several years.
Mary Ann is survived by her children; Kelly Valdez of Wilcox, April, Mrs. Carl Peterson of Rassellas, Alaine, Mrs. Karl Weidenboerner of Sanborn, NY and David Smith of Phoenix, AZ, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters; Betty, Mrs. John Ginkle of Mt. Jewett, Margaret "Sissy" Fitch of Johnsonburg, Claude E. Fitch and his wife Janet of Long Beach, CA, Charles F. "Bud" Fitch and his wife Bonnie of Grants Pass, OR and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers; Clinton W. and Thomas T. "Tommy" Fitch, and sisters; Lillian M. Winters, Helen M. Wolfe, Edith Perkins and Frances R. MacDonald.
Due to COVID 19 concerns for gatherings and travel, Funeral Services for Mary Ann Smith will be conducted at a later date and time and will be announced.
Interment will be Clermont Cemetery.
