Martha J. Roberts, 92, of 610 Third Ave., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, 2017 at UPMC Kane following a short illness.
She was born May 7, 1925 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Gleixner Stauffer. She married Clarence D. Roberts on Sept. 20, 1949 in St. Marys. He died Jan. 20, 1999.
She resided in Johnsonburg since 1949 and was formerly of St. Marys. She attended St. Marys Catholic schools and was a member of Holy Rosary Church.
She was the pastry chef at the St. Marys Hospital for 26 years, retiring in 1990. She had also worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. in Johnsonburg and St. Marys.
She is survived by four daughters, Rose Marie, Mrs. David Chiesa of Johnsonburg, Carol Ann, Mrs. Jeffrey Wallis of Johnsonburg, Mary Beth, Mrs. Donald Krise of Mt. Jewett and Diane, Mrs. Randy Chicola of DuBois; two sons, Clarence D. Roberts Jr. of St. Marys and Wayne A. Roberts at home; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Anthony, James, Francis, Gilbert, Robert, Fabian and Philip Stauffer; and three sisters, Mary Stauffer, Caroline Woelfel and Alice Wittman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Martha J. Roberts will be held Monday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday evening, Dec. 10 from 6-8 p.m
