Marie H. Rezmerski, 95, of 405 Shawmut Ave., Johnsonburg, died Monday evening, March 5, 2018 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 3, 1922 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Henry and Irene Davis Simbeck.
She married Stanley F. "Tinch" Rezmerski on Oct. 8, 1949 in St. Mary's Church, St. Marys. He died Dec. 22, 1999.
She resided in Johnsonburg since her marriage and was previously a St. Marys resident.
She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1940 and was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Holy Rosary Funeral Luncheon Committee and the Johnsonburg Senior Center where she volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved going for walks.
She was a WWII Army veteran serving as a T/5 surgical technician with the 9955th TS Unit, Surgeon General's Office, WB General Hospital.
She had worked for seven years at Sylvania in Emporium.
She is survived by three sons, Stanley F. Rezmerski Jr. of Kane, Mark R. Rezmerski and his wife Mary Ann of Ridgway and Lance D. Rezmerski and his wife Jama of Johnsonburg; four daughters, Doris M., Mrs. George Thorwart of Wilcox, Patricia M., Mrs. Paul Brehm of St. Marys, Donna L., Mrs. Charles "Chuck" Zameroski of Caledonia and Carol A., Mrs. Steve Iorfido of Johnsonburg; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Simbeck of St. Marys; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Simbeck of St. Marys and Maxine Gardner of Simi Valley, California.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael in infancy; one grandson, Michael Rezmerski; three brothers, Aaron, Robert and Richard Simbeck; and four sisters, Ruth Meier, Ethel Barnes, Edna Straub and Henrietta Roussey.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Marie H. Rezmerski to be conducted Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Visitation will be private.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Burial Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m.
