Margeret I. Benedict, 94, of 5654 Ridgway Johnsonburg Road, died Sunday (March 6, 2016) at her residence following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 30, 1921, in Driftwood, she was a daughter of Henry and Mary Dill Klink. On Sept. 4, 1945, in Holy Rosary Church, she married Henry N. Benedict, who preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2008.
Mrs. Benedict was a Johnsonburg resident for 84 years. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1939.
She was a member of the CD of A, a choir member and choir director. She was an organist for 83 years for Holy Rosary Church. She enjoyed painting, crafts, working with stained glass, reading and music.
She was employed for more than 40 years at Bauers Brides and Belles; at Sylvania for several years; Montgomery Ward for several years and at NY and PA Paper Company for several years.
Surviving are her children, Susan Hansen of Johnsonburg, Barbara (George) Sorg of Kersey,
Katheryn (Mark) Curtis of Reynoldsville, Janet Sorg of Ridgway, and Judith (Robert) Nannay of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Hansen; two brothers, Howard Klink and Bob Klink and sister Charlotte Bailey; one daughter Margaret in infancy and grandson Roger Sorg.
Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Church Johnsonburg, with the Rev. David Wilson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
