Lucy Ann Ferragine, 91, of 6543 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Rd., Johnsonburg, died Thursday morning, Nov. 9, 2017 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a short illness.
She was born July 31, 1926 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Ben and Jennie Marzella. She married James J. Ferragine on Feb. 11, 1946, he preceded her in death May 29, 2015.
She resided in Johnsonburg for 71 years and was formerly of Ridgway. She graduated from Ridgway Area High School in 1944. A member of Holy Rosary Church, she had briefly worked at Pelps, Stackpole Carbon Co. and the Johnsonburg Market Basket.
She is survived by one son, James A. Ferragine and his wife Mary of Ridgway; one daughter, Donna "Peachy," Mrs. Biagio Vavala of Syracuse, New York; four grandchildren, Andrew Ferragine, Carla Vavala Carone, Andrea DeDona and Brian Kearney; four great-grandchildren, Isabella and Aiden Ferragine and Joseph and Ava DeDona; one brother, James Marzella and his wife Ester of Ridgway; and one sister, Violet, Mrs. Anthony Nanula of Niagara Falls, New York.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Anthony, Joseph, John and Frank Marzella; and four sisters, Lena DeStefano, Anna Nike, Pauline Gapinski, Mary Helen Jacobs and Edith Carlson.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucy A. Ferragine will be conducted Monday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be held in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday evening, Nov. 12 from 6-8 p.m.
