Louis J. "Poncho" Cherry, 90, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, died early Sunday morning (Oct. 19, 2014) at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

On July 27, 1963, in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Ruth A. Calla, who died Aug. 27, 1997.

Mr. Cherry is survived by one sister, Viola Frustaci of St. Marys; a niece, Rosellen (Ken) Passell of Lock Haven; and a nephew, Joseph Mazzotta of Lock Haven.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Rosary Church with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor of St. Callistus Church in Kane, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery,
Johnsonburg. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
