Lisbeth M. "Beth" Thorwart, 64, of 2692 Wilcox Rd., Johnsonburg, died Saturday night, June 10, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a brief illness.
She was born July 30, 1952 in Ridgway, daughter of Francis M. and Lillian A. Johnson Storrar and Otto and Ellen Tutta Johnson Shippling.
On June 9, 1972, she married William J. Thorwart in St. John Lutheran Church, Johnsonburg, and he survives. She resided in Johnsonburg most of her life and had resided in Wilcox for 15 years. A 1970 Johnsonburg Area High School graduate, she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Johnsonburg, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Council. She also was a Jones Township Historical Society member and volunteer. Beth was a director of the Wilcox Library and volunteer for the library.
She had been employed by the Johnsonburg Area School District for 27 years before retiring in 2016. She was also a beautician and homemaker.
In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by her mother, Ellen Tutta Shippling of St. Marys; one son, William G. Thorwart and Jennifer Wolfe of St. Marys; two daughters, Juli, Mrs. Joshua McDuff of Milford, Delaware and Rachel F., Mrs. Jason Wells of Johnsonburg; nine grandchildren, Jenna Lily, Jaeli Beth and Jake Joshua McDuff, Ethan Richard and Emma Kae Francis Wells and Bailey Renee, Cooper William, Mila Grace and Jax Eric Thorwart; two brothers, Mark Storrar and Craig Storrar, both of Wilcox; and three sisters, Lisa, Mrs. Chuck Meissner of Florida, Krista Rusalem of Johnsonburg, Leah, Mrs. William Calla of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lillian Storrar and Otto Shippling.
Beth served the Lord and His church in several capacities. She loved her husband. She enjoyed the many activities of her grandchildren. Beth was a faithful friend and neighbor to many who will miss her dearly. She was a loving daughter-in-law. She was special.
Friends and family are invited to meet at St. John's Lutheran Church, Johnsonburg, on Wednesday morning, June 14 at 11 a.m. for a funeral service for Lisbeth "Beth" Thorwart. Officiating will be Stephen Fair, pastor. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday evening, June 13, from 6-8 p.m. at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg.
