Lawrence B. Hasney, 94, of 220 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, formerly of Blaine Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, 2017 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys following a short illness.
He was born May 16, 1923 in Wilcox, son of the late John and Anna Adams Hasney.
He married Mary Jane "Gina" Moneta on Feb. 21, 1946 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. She died Nov. 1, 2005.
He resided in St. Marys for the last five years. He had lived in Johnsonburg since 1946.
He was a graduate of Wilcox High School and was a member of Holy Rosary Church.
He was a World War II Army veteran having served overseas as a Tech5 with the 30th Transportation Corps, Traffic Control Co. He had been employed by New York and Pennsylvania Co. and Johnsonburg Mill for many years before retiring in 1989. He had also worked at the Wilcox Tannery for several years.
He is survived by two daughters, Sylvia, Mrs. Ben Kronenwetter of St. Marys and Sharon "Bunny," Mrs. Allen Cormier of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two grandsons, Allen W. Cormier Jr. and his wife Michaella and Larry Cormier and his fiance Heather; one great-grandchild, Allen W. Cormier III; one brother, Daniel Hasney and his wife Donna of Wilcox; two sisters-in-law, Delores, Mrs. Ron Conklin and Amanda Hasney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Joe Hasney.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence B. Hasney will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Saturday morning, Dec. 9 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Burial Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions should be made to the Holy Rosary Church Memorial Fund, 606 Penn St., Johnsonburg, Pa. 15845.
