Karl E. Gahn, 70, of 253 Powers Ave., Johnsonburg, and formerly of Waterloo, SC, Glen Hazel and St, Marys, passed away Monday morning, September 22, 2025, at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 12, 1955, in St. Marys, a son to the late George and Mildred Main Gahn.
A resident of Johnsonburg the last 4 years, Karl grew up in St. Marys and was a 1973 graduate of Elk County Christian High School. He also attended Penn State Behrend College for 2 years. He had been a member of Queen of the World Parish in St. Marys and he was a member of the Wilcox Sportsmen's Club and the Johnsonburg American Legion. He loved woodworking and carpentry and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.
Karl was a self-employed carpenter and finish carpenter for many years before retiring in 2017.
Karl is survived by his fiancé Lori Mellquist at home, daughters Cassandra Gahn of Erie and Erin Gahn of Stephens City, VA and Lori's children Ben Brechtel (Racquel) and their children Cadence and Claire of Wilcox and Josh Brechtel and his partner Ben Ruggles of Treasure Lake.
He is also survived by a brother Doug Gahn of St. Marys and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Karl is predeceased by a sister Kathryn L. Hoffman.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Karl E. Gahn to be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on Saturday October 4, 2025, at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.
Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, PA.
