John G. Mitchell, Jr., 96, of 354 Delano Dr., Pleasant Hills, PA died peacefully Saturday evening, May 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 20, 1923 in Pittsburgh, son of John Glenn and Ethel Weichman Mitchell.

On June 18, 1948 in Johnsonburg, he married Joan Keller. She died April 28, 2012. He resided in the Pittsburgh area all his life and was a 1948 Graduate of Penn State University with a BS in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.

He was a WWII Army Vet serving as an Airman with the US Army Air Corps as a navigator/aerial gunner aboard a B17 aircraft with the 384th Bomb Group.

He was a retired civil engineer and owner of his own plumbing company.

He is survived by 7 children: Steven Mitchell and his wife Kathy, Stanley Mitchell, Ann Mitchell, Mary Mitchell White and her husband John White, James Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell and his wife Carol and David Mitchell all of Pittsburgh, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildrenalso survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was pre-deceased by a sister; Marilyn Pole and a brother; William Mitchell.A private graveside service was conducted at the Wardvale Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg on Tuesday May 19, 2020.
