Jerome W. "Jerry" Brendel, 83, of DuBois Nursing Home, DuBois, and formerly of Second Avenue, Johnsonburg, passed away Monday morning, January 12, 2026, at DuBois Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born October 1, 1942, in St. Marys, a son to the late George L. and Eileen Hoffman Brendel. On September 11, 1965, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Karen A. Kosmiski. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2010.
A resident of DuBois for the past 3 years, Jerry spent most of his life in Johnsonburg. He was a 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School in St. Marys. Jerry was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Johnsonburg Senior Center. He loved spending time with his family, camping and he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
A Vietnam Era Army Vet, Jerry served as a Private with Co E 2nd Sch Bn USAARMS out of Ft. Knox, KY.
Jerry retired from Keystone Carbon Co. in 2005, after 43 years of service. He had also worked part time at the Elk County Court House.
Jerry is survived by three daughters, Christine "Crissy" Retzer (Daniel) of North Augusta, SC, Michelle "Shelly" Brendel (Charlie Lovett) of Columbia, TN and Melissa "Lissa" Brendel and fiancé Brett Stevens of Johnsonburg and 7 grandchildren, Bethany Brendel, Spencer Sims (Emily), Kaitlyn Edwards (Emery), Amber Massey, Kala Hight, Zachary Hight and Ethan Hight (Hallie Williams) and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Stephen Brendel of Wilcox, Michael "Mike" Brendel of Albuquerque, NM and David Brendel of Ridgway and a sister Georgianne Bauer of Ridgway and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry is predeceased by brothers Benedict and John Brendel and as sister Elizabeth Brendel.
Funeral services and interment for Jerome W. "Jerry" Brendel will be private.
Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, PA.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox-Ridgway Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30 AM.
