Hilda L. Polaski, 82, of 703 Second Ave., Johnsonburg, died Saturday night, Jan. 27, 2018 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 11, 1935 in Ridgway, daughter of the late John and Edna Fitch Erickson. She married Jake Polaski on Oct. 29, 1955 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and he survives.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and was a 1953 graduate of Johnsonburg High School.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Church. She loved spending time with her family, camping and going to the beach. She also enjoyed quilting.
She retired from IPM in 1982. She had also worked at the St. Marys Hospital, Stackpole Carbon and Speer Carbon.

In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by five children, Darcy, Mrs. Ren Yonker of Johnsonburg, Jacob "Jake" Polaski Jr. of Johnsonburg, Kirk Polaski and his wife Kim of St. Marys, Scott Polaski and his wife Lori of Johnsonburg and Julie Padasak of Johnsonburg; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Al Erickson of Johnsonburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Erickson; and a sister, Jean Erickson.

A private funeral service for Hilda L. Polaski will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 410 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
