Obituary

Gertrude J. Yonker, 99, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys and formerly of Wilcox, died Monday afternoon, July 4, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 16, 1917 in Wilcox, the daughter of Edward and Gertrude Dill Nearing.

She married Edward I. Yonker on Feb. 27, 1939, he died May 14, 1996.
She resided in Wilcox all her life and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1934. She was a member of St. Anne Church in Wilcox and AARP. She was an excellent sewer and quilter, an outstanding cook, loved flower gardening and loved to read.

She is survived by three daughters, Hazel L. Zimmerman of Cottonwood, Ariz., Kathryn A. Yonker of Columbia, S.C. and Linda M., Mrs. Paul Zborovan of Leechburg; five grandchildren, Thomas and Mark Zimmerman, Mary Lynn Garner, Laurie Gintoli and Laura Zborovan; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Daniel Zimmerman; seven brothers, Thomas, Charles, Fred, Francis, Bernard, Linus and Richard Nearing; and two sisters, Alice Price and Kathryn Murray.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude J. Yonker will be conducted at St. Anne Church in Wilcox on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, Pastor. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.

Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg on Sunday evening, July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
