George J. Farr, 89, of 160 East Avenue, Johnsonburg, died early Monday morning October 19, 2020 at Penn Highlands-Elk, St. Marys, PA following a short illness.

He was born on February 28, 1931 in Johnsonburg a son of the late Joseph Farr, Sr. and May Walker Farr. On March 2, 1957 in St. Callistus Church, Kane, he married Nancy L. Raymondo. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2012.

George was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg and attended Johnsonburg High School. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Johnsonburg Senior Center and had been a longtime member of East End Hose Co. and the Johnsonburg Ambulance Co. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to walk every day, walking up to as recently as last week. He loved to hunt as well.

He was a Korean Era Air Force Vet serving overseas as an Airman First Class with the 21 ^st Maint. Squadron.

George retired from Willamette Industries Johnsonburg Paper Mill in 1996 after 40 years of service.

He is survived by his children; George Farr, Jr. and his wife Mandey of Beloit, WI and Cheryl Ann Shembeda of Olean, NY, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, George is predeceased by brothers Joseph Farr, Jr. and Arthur T. Farr and a sister Gertrude Simbeck.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for George J. Farr to be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Thursday October 22, 2020 at 10 AM with Fr. David J. Wilson, Pastor as celebrant. Visitation will be private.

Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:15 AM.
