Faye C. Parana, 86, of 504 Woodland Ave., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday afternoon, June 16, 2015 at the home of her son and wife in Gambrills, Md. following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1929 in Jacksonville, daughter of the late Milford and Madelene Diehl Oyler. She was raised in Johnsonburg by her Uncle Fred and Aunt Laura Harker.
On Dec. 26, 1955 in Ludlow, she married Joseph Parana. He died March 28, 2006.
She resided in Johnsonburg for the past 81 years and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1947. She was a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, Gleaners, Funeral Luncheon Committee, Methodist Women's Club. She also was a member of the Holy Rosary Funeral Luncheon Committee, Red Cross bloodmobile, Salvation Army volunteer, Johnsonburg Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Daffodils for Cancer Society, Red Hat Society and served as a judge of elections for decades.
She had worked at the Sylvania Corporation, Stackpole Carbon Company in Johnsonburg and Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy "Tim" Parana of Raleigh, N.C., and Christopher "Chris" Parana and wife Elyssa of Gambrills, Md.; three grandchildren, Laura Vance, Michael Parana and Melissa Dennis; three great-grandchildren, Catherine Dennis and Siena and Bruce Vance; and one brother, Donald Oyler and wife Gladys of Lemoyne.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two stepmothers, Delphina Oyler and Frances Oyler; one daughter-in-law, Susan Parana; one brother, Glenn D. Oyler; and her uncle and aunt, Fred and Laura Harker.
A funeral service for Faye C. Parana will be held Monday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Reigel, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Sunday, June 21 from 6-8 p.m.
