Obituary

Eva DiIulio Gasbarre, 87, of 2257 Silver Creek Rd., Johnsonburg, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2016 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, following a short illness.

She was born Nov. 30, 1928 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Vincent and Helen Casilio DiIulio.

She married John A. Gasbarre on July 21, 1979 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and he survives. They lived their 36 shared years through many travels and activities.

She resided in Johnsonburg most of her life and had lived two years in Rochester, N.Y. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1946. Eva was an active member of Holy Rosary Church where she sang for many years in the senior choir and was a member of the funeral luncheon committee and the Catholic Sodality.
After graduating high school she worked as a secretary for Penntech Papers and did administrative work for Texasgulf.

She is survived by her loving husband John at home; a sister, Erma Zelechoski and her husband Dr. Robert Zelechoski of Frackville; three nieces, Roberta Zelechoski Young, Barbara, Mrs. Paul Smith and Dore, Mrs. Tony Huss; three nephews, Joe, John and David Zelechoski; 17 great nieces and nephews; and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.
The brightest light in Eva's life came from her nieces and nephews. Children held a special place in her heart and she loved being with them as much as possible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Marasco and Joanne "Olivia" DiIulio; four nephews, James, Jeff, Samuel and Richard Marasco; and a niece, Mary Ellen Dworsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eva DiIulio Gasbarre will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg with Rev. David Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.

Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 27 from 3-5 p.m.
