Emidio F. Casciani, 88, of 119 Hayes Rd., Kersey, formerly of Johnsonburg, died Wednesday evening, March 11, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 7, 1926 in Johnsonburg, son of the late John and Elizabeth DiNardo Casciani.
He married Immaculata T. "Madge" Calla on June 21, 1958 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. She died Sept. 12, 2005.
He resided in Kersey for the last seven years and lived in Johnsonburg most of his life.
He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1944. He attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church.
He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran serving overseas as Pfc with the HQ Co Capodichino Army Air Base.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 44 years and retired as the Postmaster in Johnsonburg.
He is survived by one son, Joseph Casciani and his wife Jackie of Kirkwood, N.Y.; two daughters, Ann, Mrs. Jeff Kutsch of Odenton, Md. and Theresa Steudler of Kersey; eight grandchildren, Joel, Jeffrey, Daniel and Robert Steudler, Zachary and Lauren Niederriter and Emma and Maya Kutsch; one brother, John Casciani and his wife Dina of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one sister, Serafina, Mrs. Charles "Chuck" Hacheral of Green Valley, Ariz.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; a son, Thomas A. Casciani; a brother, Ralph Casciani; and two sisters, Anna Grayson and Rosemary Calla.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emidio F. Casciani will be conducted Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Friday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Detail.
