Obituary

Elaine Mary Pavlock, 80, of 153 Rasselas Road, Wilcox, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2021 following a brief illness. She was born on November 28, 1940 in Wilcox a daughter of the late John and Pauline Redmond Strauss. She married Henry F. Pavlock, Jr. in St. Anne's Church and they have been married for over 63 years. She is a lifelong resident of Wilcox and a 1958 graduate of the Joint Johnsonburg-Wilcox School System.

She was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Wilcox, and was a founding member of the Wilcox Holiday Lighting Committee. She was very close to her entire family. She kept the memories of those who had passed before her alive by fondly sharing her memories. The joy of her life was gathering with her children, grandchildren, sisters and extended family for holidays, cookouts, birthdays and other family events. She especially loved taking her sisters' and close friends' money at weekly "card club" gatherings. She was famous for her weekend meals which included pots of her famous chili, chicken soup, pigs-in-a-blanket and pies and other sweets. All were always welcome and all were always fed-along with several entertaining stories to go along with the meal. She was an avid crafter and looked forward to selling her items and visiting with all her friends at the annual Johnsonburg Holiday Fest Craft event. She greatly enjoyed puzzles and encouraged the assistance of family and friends to place a piece or two in the latest puzzle on the kitchen table.

Elaine had been employed by Stackpole Corp. for several years and she was part of the "Strauss Sisters" catering business for several decades. She and her mother, sisters and family members had cooked and served thousands of meals at numerous local weddings and other events. "Grandma Lanie" was the center of her family and she will be greatly missed. We, her family, take comfort in knowing that we will see her again, that she is now with the family that has passed and she is telling them stories about us instead of telling us stories about them.

Besides her husband at home, Elaine is survived by her children; Justine, Mrs. Donald VonArx of Wilcox, John Pavlock and his wife Louise of Smethport, Patricia, Mrs. Lucas Dillinger of Wilcox and Susan Carlin of Pittsburgh, six grandchildren; Samantha, Mrs. James Costanzo, Andrew VonArx, Jared Pavlock, Emily Dillinger, Daniel Dillinger and Jordan Pavlock and 2 great-grandchildren; Alexandra Costanzo and James Costanzo, Jr. She is also survived by three sisters; Loretta Nicklas of James City, Carol Strauss of Wilcox and Bernadine McDonald of Wilcox. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother; Robert Strauss and three sisters; Patricia Smith, Delores Parana and Geraldine Wilhelm.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine M. Pavlock to be conducted at St. Anne's Church, Wilcox on Friday July 2, 2021 at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
