Dorothy L. Gearhart, 75, of 1107 Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, passed away Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023 at Penn Highlands-Elk following a lengthy illness. She was born in Ridgway on June 27, 1947 a daughter to the late Daniel Addison "Ad" and Wilda Moore Nortum. On July 3, 1965 in the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, she married Bennie O. Gearhart and he survives.

A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Dorothy was a 1965 graduate of Johnsonburg High School and a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church. A homebody, Dorothy loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved to do word searches and was an avid reader, especially James Patterson novels.

Dorothy had retired from ATA as a dispatcher after 33 years, where she had also been a bus driver.

She is survived by her husband Bennie at home, a son Daniel Gearhart and his wife Karen of Orrville, OH, grandchildren Tia, Mrs. Kevin Brown and Brice Gearhart  and his wife Molli and great-grandchildren Dominic and Harmony Brown and Colten Gearhart.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by brothers Marshall and Harold Nortum and a sister Yvonne Olsen.

Funeral Services and interment for Dorothy L. Gearhart will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
