Donald E. "Big D" Frank, 78, of 3958 Long Level Rd., Johnsonburg, died Sunday evening, Feb. 26, 2017 in Okechobee, Florida following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 25, 1938 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Fred C. and Kathleen Lynch Frank.
On Sept. 22, 1990, he married Consilia "Consie" Marasco and she survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1956. He then graduated from Clarion State College in 1962 and received a master's degree in psychology from St. Bonaventure University in 1992.
"Big D" was a member of the James W. Brown Lodge F&AM, Elks Lodge 612 and Prince of Piedmont Club, all in Johnsonburg. He was a former member of the Rolfe Sportsmen's Club and was a member of the Wilcox Sportsmen's Club.
He had been employed at Johnsonburg Area High School as a teacher and counselor for 38 years before retiring in 1999.
In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by one son, Donald E. Frank Jr. and his wife Karen of Wilcox; four daughters, Kim, Mrs. James Amaret of Lake Placid, New York, Kerry, Mrs. Steve Zuroski of Johnsonburg, Kathy, Mrs. Joe Malobicky of Wilcox and Krista Frank of Johnsonburg; one stepson, Jesse Schreiber and his wife Sarah of Johnsonburg; four grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Zuroski, Liza Amaret and Kinze Hoffman; two step-grandsons, Mitchell and Maxwell Schreiber; one brother, Fred C. Frank and his wife Jennifer of Johnsonburg; two sisters, Sharon, Mrs. Harry Bressler of DuBois and Kathy, Mrs. Donald Payne of Kane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald E. "Big D" Frank will be conducted Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, with Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Friday, March 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A lasting memorial scholarship in Mr. Frank's name with a $500 gift to a graduating senior at Johnsonburg Area High Scool will be set up through the Elk County Community Foundation.
