Charlotte J. "Sharkey" Muroski, 77, of 501 Willow St., Johnsonburg, died Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2016 at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport following a short illness.
She was born July 11, 1939 in Brockway, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Walk Sereno.
She married Jerome "Jerry" Muroski on Sept. 13, 1958 and he survives.
She resided in Johnsonburg most of her life and was a 1957 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, where she served on the funeral luncheon committee, a member of the Cursillo Movement, Central Hose Co., Johnsonburg Senior Center, was very active on the Elk County Democratic Committee and served as the Johnsonburg Chair and was the Judge of Elections for the 3rd Ward in Johnsonburg.
She enjoyed playing cinch and bingo, dining out and going to the casino. "Sharkey" was known as "Grandma Shark" by many. She had many requests for spaghetti and meatballs and was happy to oblige. Above all, she was a champion for the underdog and never turned anyone away.
She had worked at Stackpole Carbon Co., Keystone Carbon Co., Community Nurses Home Health Care and drove a school bus for Johnsonburg school students.
In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by two sons, Mark Muroski and his wife Lori of Johnsonburg and Rick Muroski of St. Marys; two daughters, Teri, Mrs. Brad Scott of Salisbury, Maryland and Sharon Muroski-Methany of Johnsonburg; seven grandchildren, Bryan Muroski, Jami, Mrs. Cody Mathis, Andrea, Mrs. Ryan Bennett, Sarah, Mrs. Dustin Leader, Tony Jovenitti and Carley and Derek Scott; three great-grandchildren, Aaron and Isabelle Bennett and Bristol Mathis; and two sisters, Donna "Dolly" Anzinger of Roaring Springs and Rose "Bing," Mrs. Phil Muroski of Johnsonburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Mary and Helen; a grandson, Aaron Muroski; and a sister, Victoria Graves.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charlotte J. "Sharkey" Muroski will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Wednesday evening, Nov. 9 from 6-8 p.m.
