Catherine M. Rusalem, 94, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, formerly of Johnsonburg, died Friday morning, July 22, 2016 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Domenico and Mary L. Marrone Marroni.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and was a 1939 graduate of Johnsonburg High School.

Catherine was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Rosary Altar Society, Rolfe Sportsmen's Club, Maria Jose Lodge and Johnsonburg Senior Center. She retired from Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in 1988 after 14 years of service. She had also worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. for 24 years.

She is survived by one son, Charles D. "Bud" Rusalem of Johnsonburg; one daughter, Cindy, Mrs. David Strittenburger of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Aaron, Jay, Toby and Kira Rusalem and Kelly Strittenburger; and one sister, Yolanda Eckert of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Julio Rusalem; three brothers, John, Ernest and Frederick Marroni; and a sister, Angeline Tegano.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine M. Rusalem to be conducted Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. There will be no visitation.
