Obituary

Bruce D. Mottern, 71, of 174 Faries Street, Wilcox, and formerly of Ridgway and Penfield, passed away Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 20, 1953, in Coudersport, a son to the late Floyd and Mary Toth Mottern.

Bruce had lived in Wilcox for the past 2 years and had lived in Ridgway from 1989 to 2023. He had also lived in Penfield and Tyler. He was a graduate of DuBois High School. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Bruce was a self-employed logger before his retirement in 2022 and had also been a private enterprise coal miner for many years.

Bruce is survived by his sons Cory Mottern of Wilcox and Jesse Mottern (Loren) of Butler and grandsons Preston, Malcolm and Duncan Mottern. He is also survived by his siblings Gale Schingle (Paul) of Cedar Falls, IA, Lee Mottern of Penfield and Penny Mottern of Penfield and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Gary Mottern.

Funeral services and interment for Bruce D. Mottern will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, PA.
