Beverly Marlene Cook, 89, of 1102 Horner Road, Wilcox, passed away Thursday morning, February 20, 2025, at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, following a brief illness. She was born in Wilcox, a daughter to the late Carl H. and Martha Lehman Johnson. On November 20, 1954, in the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, she married Carl W. Cook. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2013.
A lifelong resident of Wilcox, Marlene was a graduate of Wilcox High School. She was a member of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, where she had been the Sunday School Superintendent for 40 years and the organist for many years, following in her mother's footsteps. Marlene was also a member of the Jones Twp. Senior Center where she had been the treasurer for many years, and she had been a volunteer at the Cash Bash for many years.
Marlene was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her family as well as her many dear friends.
She had retired in 1997 after working for the Johnsonburg Area School District for 22 years in the cafeteria. She had also previously worked for Stackpole Corp. in Kane, Bauer's Fashions of Johnsonburg and the Grant House in Wilcox.
Marlene is survived by her children Scott Cook (Valerie) of Ridgway, Layne Cook (Brenda) of Erie, Dale Cook (Patty) of Wilcox, Barry Cook (Tina) of Ridgway and Susan Smith (James A.) of Wilcox, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Gordy (Ann) Johnson of Kanesholm and a sister-in-law Eleonore Johnson of Kane.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene is predeceased by brothers Alvin Johnson and Carly Johnson.
A Funeral Service for Beverly Marlene Cook will be conducted at the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, Wilcox, PA on Saturday March 1, 2025, at 12 Noon with Lay Minister Robert Johnson as celebrant. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg.
