Alice R. Vanatta, 94, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, formerly of 522 1st Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday (April 2, 2014) at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.

She married H. Dean Vanatta on Aug. 8, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1973.

Mrs. Vanatta is survived by four sons and three daughters: Dean Francis (Ellen) Vanatta of Johnsonburg, Michael L. (Linda) Vanatta of Pennsylvania Furnace, David A. (Patty) Vanatta of Johnsonburg, James T. (Mary) Vanatta of Mount Airy, Tenn., Judith (David) Rettger of St. Marys, Nancy L. (Paul) Galford of Emporium and Margaret A. Mertz of St. Marys; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
